Shores is denied revenge in tough battle against Socal, loses 5-4 in a thriller.

The San Diego Shores 14U girls had a chance for revenge against rival Socal. Up early, and in control, Shores looked like a different team than the one that was blown out last week against the same opponent.

After taking a 3-1 lead at the half, Shores appeared well in control of Socal on the defensive end of the pool and were making the most of open opportunities on offense. Changing sides did not benefit the Shores team at all. The Socal team pressed hard in the second half and the Shores offense could not get on track, managing only 1 goal. The lack of possession and minimized scoring chances created by the pressure, allowed Socal to outscore Shores 4-1 in the second half and take the victory 5-4.

The Shores girls answered a lot of questions for coaches, parents and fans today as they continue to prepare for the Speedo Cup where they will undoubtedly have another chance for redemption against Socal.

While C.WithersMedia does not believe in moral victories, we do see the importance of gaining confidence and proving to yourself that you can compete against a formidable opponent.
